The meetings are held at the township hall located at 285 E. The Union Township Trustees meet on the first and third Monday of each month. There is also an elected township Fiscal Officer, who serves a four-year term. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election, and one is elected in the year before it. The Township is bounded on the North by Franklin and Dunbar Townships on the East by Dunbar and Wharton Townships, on the South and Southwest by the City. Union Township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Union Township borders Turtlecreek Township to the north, Hamilton Township to the south, Deerfield Township to the southwest, and Salem Township to the east. Of those, 2,230 lived in the unincorporated parts of the township and 2,438 lived in the Village of South Lebanon. The 2000 census found 4,668 people in the township. It was established Januand named Union as it was formed from parts of Deerfield and Turtlecreek Townships.
